Dexter is dark. There are no two ways about it. A hit-TV show about a mass murderer just couldn’t not be. He has trouble with maintaining personal relationships, but one connection he’s always had is with his adoptive sister Debra Morgan, played by Jennifer Carpenter, a feature throughout. Dexter abides by a ‘code’ created by his father, a policeman who adopts him after Dexter is involved in a tragic accident as a toddler. The code is a set of rules that keep Dexter from being caught killing, and which ensures that Dexter only kills people who harm others, or do seriously bad things. It causes constant internal conflict, but saves him time and time again. Currently, Dexter is reaching its series finale.
