The show centres on main character Nicholas Brody, a U.S. Marine who was declared Missing in Action but was subsequently discovered to have been held hostage by Al-Queda. Released, returned to the U.S. and to his family, Brody is heavily monitored by the CIA under suspicion that he has turned enemy spy. Carrie Mathison, a bipolar CIA agent, begins to investigate Brody after being assigned to a counterterrorism program. Brody is seen by America as a war hero, but Carrie suspects that Brody is hiding something after she learns about certain events surrounding Brody while he was in Iraq. Homeland is currently in its third season, after having aired two immensely successful seasons, winning numerous awards and attracting widespread critical acclaim for both seasons.
