This long running BBC show has spawned multiple generations of diehard fans since its first seasons in 1963-1989 and its reboot series beginning in 2005. The Whovians are a collection of world-wide fans that have a keen love for and a deep knowledge of all things relating to Doctor Who and its Timelords. The show follows the adventures of the 11 incarnations of the Doctor and his myriad of companions as they travel through time in the iconic blue police box; the TARDIS.

Popular ‘ships’ of this fandom include but are definitely not limited to, the 10th Doctor/Rose, the Doctor/Captain Jack and the Doctor/the TARDIS. With the time travelling abilities of the Doctor many Whovians hold onto hope that their OTPs will come true regardless of the improbabilities that each series creates.

The ‘Whovians’ are also characterised by their choice of their favourite doctor out of the reincarnations, whether it be sassy Nine, long-lived Fourth, David Tennant’s 10 or the rest. The resilience of this fandom has been proved by its long standing in TV culture, and comes from the vast amount of canon and the history that the show has developed over its time on air.
